Daniel, when are we going to see SVN?

As mentioned here: http://forum.opencart.com/index.php/top ... ml#msg5391

Ok its up!

You can go here:

http://open-cart.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/

Use a SVN program like tortoise to download it fully.

This is a non working copy so please don't install it.

This version is just so coders can view what I have done so far. The catalog is not working and I have not had time to start it. The admin is nearly finished, but there are one or two pages that are still not working.

Two of the biggest changes are how the page controller and models work.

To render a page you can use:

$this->id          = 'content';
$this->template = 'catalog/product.tpl';
$this->layout    = 'common/layout';
$this->children  = array();

I haven't decided 100% if the way models are called is going to be the final solution. I might use a loader class like code igniter does.

The URL requires a username and password to access it via URL, is there a way you can browse it as a user? Read only?

I also attempted to access this via TortoiseSVN, it also prompted for a username and password.

What you're talking about sounds interesting...

My tip as a developer would be to release soon and release often, in fact that's something I learned from sourceforge so I can't take all the credit, but it's very true...

It stops upgrading between versions from being so drastic.

Daniel, I was interested to know how you would like fellow developers, such as myself, to play a role the development of opencart, how do you see it working? Specifically how do you want to handle bug reports, feature requests and additional modules?

Thanks.

I didn't mean to take so long. I have tried doing so much in one big release. Unfortantly some of the changes I made didn't work pout and ended up wasting a few months.

I'm not sure yet, but I think google code lets you have multiple users access the SVN repository. I would need to know who whats to be a developer so i can add there google account to the project. I'm not sure if Google code lets people just have branch access or not.

Once I have finished the admin (which should not take long now) the catalog should be easy to finish.

I could really do with more people working on this project.

I know sourceforge lets you have read access to the SVN, then you can add write access for specific users.

I should imagine that google code will do the same thing...

I'd be willing to contribute to a new version of OpenCart via a SVN repository. I would port my Import/Export module to the new version, to start with.

Export/Import Tool * SpamBot Buster * Unused Images Manager * Instant Option Price Calculator * Number Option * Google Tag Manager * Survey Plus * OpenTwig

Any advance on a way to handle bug reports? It seems that at the moment users are able to submit via Google Code and here on the forum, you may also decide to use some other project manager in the future. Do you have any intention of making an official way to report bugs, and request features.

As a developer this is crucial to assisting the project, this will give developers a good idea of what bugs exist, what has already been fixed, and what still needs to be fixed.

It seems this has been discussed in the past: http://forum.opencart.com/index.php/topic,402.0.html

I have had good experiences with using Bugzilla in past projects. If there is enough interest, I could set one up on my server for OpenCart developers.
