Hi,

Paypal keeps sending emails about changes that may or may not affect my site. The changes are:

1. Discontinue using the VeriSign G2 Root Certificate
2. Update your integration to support certificates using the SHA-256 algorithm

Will these changes affect my OpenCart 1.5.1 site's ability to use paypal?

thanks

Hi,

Did you get any reply for your issue? We are also receiving these PayPal emails from our clients and we have v2.0+ and v1.5+ OC sites. Is there anything we have to do in OC or our servers or is this a SSL certificate upgrade within PayPal servers?

Can someone please clarify?

Thanks,

Ann

I have just received an email from Paypal about their upgrade to SHA-256 and would also like to know if we have to do anything? Will the existing OC Paypal mod work or will it need changing? I have tried testing in Sandbox mode but Paypal won't let me log into my account!

I hope someone knows...

Anyone got any idea about the changes? We have a lot of stores using PayPal and I need to know if it effects the module used in OC.

I posted this same question on another spot here at Opencart and also have had no response.
Does anyone at all know?

Hi guys,
I asked this question elsewhere and had a handy reply - which is relevant if you have SSL:

I'm not sure on sites without SSL though...

Thanks for the link. It is much appreciated.

I don't have SSL certificate - so still need a definitive answer. Thanks so much!

Right... I asked my host about this (as my website is non SSL), and they say...

"I can confirm this will not be an issue, PayPal's notification will likely relate to requiring system connecting to their IPN service be SHA-256 capable and this is the case with the system hosting your account with us."

So basically you need to check with your hosting company! I imagine if you are using a good one, they will be fine...

I can confirm that you need to check with your hosting company. If they are keeping the software up to date, you should be all set, whether you have an SSL or not. It is a good idea to make sure your SSL (if you use one) has a 4096 bit private key generated. Basically, when you update your certificate next, generate a new 4096 bit private key and a brand new CSR to protect yourself (this is standard security, not to deal with Paypal changes).
