Phplist for 2.xx

Anyone know or planning on getting phplist working for the latest version? I can only find up to v1.5

Can you give more details what is phplist? (googled) https://www.phplist.com/
Is it useful is it cheaper or better in some way than other services like it I have no idea?

It is a mailing list I currently use for newsletters. It does not cost anything like Mailchimp or constant contact

According to phplist features, it does not cost anything by taking the free plan of 300 emails a month. Although, I fail to see where this script would be differed from our own email servers to send grouped emails. For instance, the admin marketing contact page in OpenCart can already send grouped emails. Granted, most providers may prevent this methodology from happening to avoid email abuse but still is another free solution we can already use with more than 300 emails a month ...
