I had problems, too. My solution was to purchase the Live Theme Editor fromm Vietthemes that uses the default theme, but there was only a single CSS selector I added custom. EVERYTHING else I was able to set from the Live Theme Editor. I love it!

can you advise how you installed it as im just wonting to check im installing it correctly as as you have to go in to each folder and drop file in.
