State / Region should be reworked

State / Region should be reworked a bit.

For example, in Germany a address will not contain the state, people write München, and never München, Bayern.

I can do that by removing all states individually from 'locations'. People then must chose 'none', that is ok. It would be nice to be able to do that for one country with one click - or have that State / Region pull down menu removed from individual countries.

I believe most of Europe does not need regions. Country and ZIP-code will route the delivery correctly. People are not used to enter them.

Please check the link below, I described, how to hide certain Fields, like State and Country, and replace the selectable values with a fixed value. I used the registration form as sample, it could be done in other places in a similar way, by just hiding the State, but leave the value, where it needs to be used...

Since you have scripting knowledge, and have haven't had a deep look to OC's inner working - couldn't I simply write a PHP script to change the values in the MySQL DB? To me that would be rather easy, maybe one script that could disable all regions in one country (now need to do one by one)

you may remoe all 'unused' data from a Shop-DB by use of the OpenShop SQL-Buddy, it's a few minutes of work.
As less you have, as faster the thing works, and as easier the selection will be...
