Genuine customer accounts not enabled...help!

Hi everyone,

I've been having an ongoing problem for months now, in which perfectly legitimate customers place an order and select the option to register, but for some reason their ip address isn't taken and their account isn't marked as approved (this happens with a small but rather annoyed minority of customers). I've asked the developer of the one page checkout extension we're using if he can help but he tells me it has nothing to do with his extension as all customer data is taken care of by the core opencart files.

I'm at the end of my tether now, as I get a couple of customers every week asking why they can't log in for the aforementioned reason. Has nobody else had this problem?

Please help or else I'm going to have to consider migrating to another system. I'm using 1.5.5.1

you do know you have posted in OC 2.0 forum ?

i assume you have registration set to auto approve ?
when you say minority ?
do you mean random, or do they all have something in common ?

have you tried registering new accounts yourself ?
when placing an order and when not ordering ?
to try and pin point the problem

what other mods installed ?

if you are thinking of migrating already, have you not thought about updating to 2.0 ?
