after upgrading my opencart installation from 1.6 - version 2.0, i can no longer log in to the admin side of my site! not only was this upgrade time consuming ( due to all the code corrections that needed to be made) and i still haven't finished !!
It now seems like a pointless waste of life as i cannot access the admin area any how! my site is welbo.co.uk.

As far as i can see all there is to do is reinstall the whole site, hours and hours more work to get it back to how it was just one week ago!

You are, you did an upgrade.

The Admin works on a clean install.

I totally agree with i2Paq. Following question is : did you do a backup before the "upgrade", didn't you?

It would be clerarer to say that OC 2.0 is UNUSABLE AT ALL in production.
All merchants who upgrade or fresh install run directly into problems with their shop and customers.
We went from a stable software to something full of errors, insufficiently tested, not finished, and this will affect the credibility of OC on e-commerce market. Really, you can throw v2.0 to the trash.

If you want a premium product, go and pay for it. OC is free, did you honestly expect a perfect product?

Visit Thoughtfulthumb.co.uk and I would be happy to receive any thoughts or problems you pick up on! I am a new business, have had successfull previous companies and New to developing a software based website. Thank you.

Nobody said anything about a 'premium' product - the current OC release is simply 'unuseable'.
