Updating from 1.5.4 to 2.0

Hello there,

I was reading through your documentation and followed steps to update from 1.5.4 to latest 2.0 version. Luckily, I duplicated my whole site on localhost (xampp) server and tried the upgrade there.
Firstly I got a lot of messages when I tried to upgrade which was saying that i should add single quotes to some strings in upgrade files which I did, and now I'm left with only one error:
Error: Could not load database driver DB_DRIVER!

I have no idea what's that all about. I have mysql server running nicely, don't have an idea what's this error about.

Anyway, I didn't know that it's not suggested to upgrade from 1.5.x to 2.0 yet, as I saw that topic few minutes ago when I registered on support forum. Any advice what to do next? Should I just wait for the final release of upgrade script for my version or did I do something wrong during the upgrade process because of what I'm getting that error now?

I would wait for 2.0 to become stable and the arrival of a working upgrade script.

Do you know around what date that's going to happen maybe? Or how soon is that?
Should I update to more up-to-date version rather than 2.0 maybe?
