USPS First Class faliure V1.4.9.5

I have been searching for the last hours trying to find a solution to my shipping issues with the USPS.php deal. I have downloaded patches and installed them, non of them working to solve the problem. I am pretty much at my wits end on this deal. Is there a simple code fix that will make opencart display the first class shipping from the USPS or not?

I have neither the time nor the inclination to go through the "upgrade process" right now. I just need a simple straight-forward solution to this problem. Keep in mind I spend very little time (if any) poking around in the code. I avoid it like the plague to be honest.

When i set it I get verything BUT the first class option (plus I get the annoying <su>tm<sup> error as well)

Also keep in mind that USPS has changed first class and standard post quite a bit. There are some interesting (read: needlessly complicated) rules involving zones, etc. Check out the official support thread linked on the mod for some ideas.
