I completed a full backup on our cPanel page, which took about 1-2 hours to download. The backup file is 2.79GB. I am now restoring the backup and so far it says it has been restoring for 4.5 hours. Why is it taking so long?

Thanks

Does your server allow restoring of such large files?

It depends on your own internet speed. Downloading seems to be faster as upload.

To make it faster is before you make a backup delete the image/cache and the system/ cache files.

Are we talking about an MySQL backup or a file backup?

It is possible to backup with cpanel wizard.
1) Fullbackup
2) your home dir ( this everything except your database)
3 )your Database

It is also possible to go to cPanels file manager, compres your public_html and than download your zip file.

But it all depends on your own internet speed. ( here we work with 100/100 Mb/s)
