I am using the latest Opencart version and can not get email to work at all.
Tried mail, smtp, with and without passwords the cart message is always the same telling me mail has been sent , Nothing arrives and no error log on server. Arggggggggg please help, i have searched the forum pasted a few of the other mail.php fixes but nothing i try will work.

My email works fine from everything else except opencart
.

in mail.php find the line

Code: Select all

mail($to, $this->subject, $message, $header);
and change to this

Code: Select all

mail($to, $this->subject, $message, $header, "-fyouremailaddress@yourdomain.com");
it was the -f switch with a valid sending domain that was the issue, the domain with the -f switch has to be hard coded in for the mailserver security.

Can nobody cast any ideas on this problem as i notice there are several unconclusive posts on this subject that just seem to get left alone?

If you are getting it at gmail and hotmail then it seems to be sending. Check with your host for error logging at the server level to see if they are getting rejected from other servers.

Why would other servers be rejecting them?
This guy here seems to be having similar problems

Not being very good with php i'm wondering if this faq from my provider outlining phpmail compiance might be the reason my site is not sending email.
http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/knowledge-ba ... icle_id=70
Could someone please check it and let me know if i need to alter mail.php.

Thanks

Hi Frustrated,

Thank god someone else is having this problem. It's driving me round the twist and nobody has replied to my threads.

Can't anybody help with this problem?

Hi djcraig49
Are you by any chance hosting with Fasthosts? There has to be some common factor if we have the same problem.

My sites are hosted with streamline.net on linux servers.

Its really strange, if i go in admin>sales>mail and email 2 customers (both me) my @kent.ac.uk and another email address ie. my sites email address or another of my shops email address or even btconnect.com they dont receive the email but my kent email or google or hotmail do. Same case with automated emails...

It doesn't seem to matter what my store owner email address is or even if i use my kent smtp server rather than the mail function i have the same problem.

My store owner email address is the same as the domain my store is located towertiles.co.uk, From the front end it will only send mail to hotmail addresses tho i get the success message no matter what email address i put in.
From admin only the customers with hotmail addresses get their email. No errors on site, no error in server logs, no errors from hosting company support.

Ok I have managed to get my sites emails fully working. I swapped from linux to a windows server and now everything works. Strange because I used linux previously, i presume my host has changed something.

I'm just going to dump OC and find something where you get support when you need it. Switching servers should not have to be the solution but it appears that no-one knows whats wrong with the email.
