Hi all,

I have read a few topics on the forum regarding Product model and making it non required.
But I have not found any topic explaingning why Product model is required as standard.

It would be interesting to know why, can it be that some payment providers require that field for example so disabling it could cause problems? I have never stumbled upon any problems using other systems without model before but since its actually required in opencart and not only recommended to input the model sure there must be some underlaying factor?

Thanks, and have a nice day:)

My take: The model field is so integrated into the opencart database queries it has to be used.

Why not just rename the places it says model to something else that meets your requirement?

Dear Mike,

Thanks for your reply, for me it's really not a problem. I'm just interested why it's a required field and if making it a non required field would have any impact in any sort. There must have been a reason to make it required i guess?
