As I see, the only new feature of OC 2.0 is a new default template + extension installer...?

Do we really need to wait such a long time for these small changes, or there will be some more interesting new features?

I have merged the 2 topics with the same title and subject.

sorry, it's not a bug, it's rather a 'look' problem. Just like this:

but possibly, I am just to 'picky', when it comes to 'visual' things. Typically Swiss. After all, it's for free, so, who care's...

Still, it would take so little, to make it look a little 'more PRO'.
But then, there would be not much to make better either...

Design is a decisive Element of Success.

PS. I have been looking for a 'better matching' v2 Subsection around here, but I found none..

I don't care that much about the exact release date, but having some insights about the development choices made for this release would be quite helpful. If only to know where to invest my time (aka which plugins should I invest in, which parts to improve, etc.)

Can someone tell me how can I get involved in development of v2.0 ?
I'm just amazed how clean code is in current stable version, and first thing that bugged me was where are namespaces and autoloaders, but then I saw it's built for PHP5.2 and lower. After some reading on forums I saw that there is development of v2.0 so I thought to jump in if it's possible.

Thanks

Having built a number of sites on it, I have never been wholly impressed with OpenCart. Version 2 will be a huge step in the right direction, my agency has just launched a site built on the master branch at https://www.powerbench.com/ which is already seeing sales. There were a number of problems and bugs to overcome, many of which are already fixed in the most recent master, but for an unreleased product it went pretty smoothly. At this point I wouldn't recommend building a store around version 2 unless you are or have access to a competent developer who can fix issues, but it will definitely be our preferred platform (over 1.5.x) going forward.

Havn´t read all the treads.. But the problem I have had is with Url for product pages and categories. Will the Url handeling be improved and also have canonical built in?

Also want it to be simple to change templates for diffrent pages. Say I only want a startpage and a shot that handles 5 product. I want it to be more easy to change how the startpage is looking.

Available for hire with Opencart http://starta-webshop.nu/opencart/ or other web http://xn--webbyr-stockholm-iob.com/ development.

Canonical is already built in pre v2.0

This all sounds awesome. Features sound great :)

I really hope it does "more" outta the box, some really basic stuff too.

I've been watching for some time now and we use Opencart for all of our e-commerce builds, cant fault it.

Kind Regards

Two "makento-like" features that I still can't believe Opencart doesn't have by default are Configurable products and a good Layered Navigation.
Apparel stores are hugely popular, and most products have at least 2 options, like color and size and with individual stocks for each color+size combination.
And we surely need to easily filter those options.
Right now, we need to buy expensive extensions for this so popular features.

It could be that a 1.5.6.5 version will be published - will include some fixes > see Github.

v.2 is on the way - it is possible that we will see it before autumn.
Before there will be some public pre-releases for bugtesting & -fixing.
