I want to offer a newsletter to customers however, Canada is introducing a new 'anti-spam' law which takes effect July 1st, 2014 (CASL). Anyone or any company will be required by law to gain consent from subscribers first, they must also be identified and have the ability to unsubscribe. Wondering how this can be accomplished in Opencart?

when someone signs up on your website they have to option to sign up for the newsletter and they can also unsubscribe from their account when they log in. there are some modules that will add an unsubscribe link to the newsletter or you can add on your self. they will still have to login but it should meet the requirements.

How can you tell which of your customers has signed up specifically for the newsletter? Some may want the account but not the newsletter. What is above sounds like they have to close their account. I don't want to lose customers because they can't separate this. What are my options or have I misunderstood how this works?
