I already use the Free Shipping Plus extension for across-the-board free shipping on $75+ orders (and it works great), but now I want to add a few products to my cart that are too large/heavy for free shipping.
When multiple qualified and non-qualified products are added to the cart, and the total is over $75. the shipping should ignore the qualified items and just return a USPS shipping quote for the non-qualified products.

What is the best extension, or combination of rules to get this accomplished?
Johnathan, do you have a mod that fits the bill?

The easiest way to do this is to use a weight of 0 for the free products, and limit Free Shipping Plus, so it has a Weight Max of 0.01. That way, it will only be available when the cart is $75+ and contains items that are free shipping (i.e. have a weight of 0).

This should also still calculate the USPS quote correctly, since the weight of the free items would not affect the cart weight.

Thanks for the quick response, Johnathan, but that workaround might not be ideal.
Orders under $75 will still require weight based shipping quotes for all products from USPS.

In that case, you could use volume instead of weight. Just make the volume 0 for free products, and limit the Free Shipping so it's only available with a Volume Max of 0.01.

If you want something more powerful, you could also use Ultimate Shipping. It can do live rates for some products + formula rates for others, and combine them into a single charge. You'd need to make it so that over $75 it gives Free Shipping for the relevant products + USPS for your heavy items, and under $75 it does a single USPS quote for the entire cart.

If you're interested in that, take a look at the demo, and then let me know at www.getclearthinking.com/contact if you have further questions.
