Well, I have set coupons right. It displays "Success: Your coupon discount has been applied!" But the discount does not apply in the total.

Any help?

it does apply you just don't see it till the confirmation page. This has been discussed at lenght, and the coupon code entry box will most likely be moved in a future version.

Well, I did use the search feature. But it was of no help ( I could not find a solution to my problem). It does not update in the confirmation page. I've checked it many a times. It took me straight to payment, Where i had to pay the entire total without the discount being applied. That was the reason i posted here. :(

We're having the same problem. We get the success message, and it is updated in the orders table. However, it is not reflected in the Total in the confirmation page, and when you confirm the order, it goes off the the payment gateway, still without the updated total. Complete the sale, and it doesn't show up on the order history either.

And yes, I do realize the cofirmation page is after the payment page.

Did you enable "Coupon" in "Extensions -> Order Total" (in the admin)?

I just tried this to be sure and its working fine

Set up a coupon to give 10% off a total of 10.00 or more
I added ALL products to the allowed products list
added 2 items to my cart for a total of 1100.00
went to cart page and entered code
checked out
confirm page showed
1100 - 10% = 990.00

So we know it works.

Some troubleshooting tips:
If you are getting the "Successfully applied" message:
- Be sure the products in your cart are on the right box of the allowed products area. Even if the products aren't valid, you will still get the successful coupon message, but the coupon won't apply.
- Check the discount amount
- Check the total in your cart is more than the coupon total

If you are getting the "Coupon invalid or expired" message:
- Check the start/end dates
- Check that the uses per coupon and per customer are high enough
- Check you have the correct code

Oops ! You got me. Yea, i forgot to enable that. Damn ! Sorry for the trouble :( I Apologise. Too much in my head right now. Could not concentrate on the simple stuff.
