I have OC v1.5.5.1 Could someone tell me what shipping module fits my needs? I need a solution like yesterday so I would appreciate suggestions on what shipping module to buy.

Domestic Shipping:
books ship by quantity ( ex. 1 book $3, up to 8 books $6, etc.)
Free Shipping after $30 spent on books only

International Shipping:
books ship by quantity (ex. up to 14 books $25, up to 50 $70)

All other items (heavy books, clothing and various merchandise):
ship by category or product and ship by weight and volume. USPS charges parcel per weight within certain dimensions.
Domestic charges differ from international charges of course.

Keep in mind that shipping methods in OpenCart are independent, so their costs cannot be combined, which means you need to set all your rates up within a single shipping method.

If you're using USPS to retrieve the rates, there's not an easy solution, because it can only call to the USPS server to get the rates for the entire cart. If this is how you're charging for your other items, you could possibly use Individual Shipping, which will present a shipping option for each individual product (or manufacturer) in the cart.

If you can set up your weight/volume rates using formulas instead of using the USPS method, then you can probably use Product-Based Shipping to set up different rates for different products and groups of products. It supports item-based rates for your books, weight/volume rates for your other products, and can combine multiple rates into a single shipping charge for the customer.

If that seems like it will work and your product types are cleanly divided along category lines, you could also use Category-Based Shipping instead, which would be faster to set up. If you have further questions, feel free to contact me at www.getclearthinking.com/contact after you take a look at the demo.
