Hello, I really did not know where to put this so apologies if in the wrong place. I bought a backup to dropbox extension,

(http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... on_id=5150)

that has started to cause errors... I have contacted the developer several times with no help and I am now being ignored. If someone can help me fix I would be most grateful as apart from the developer being unresponsive the actual extension *should* be the best for my needs.

The error is:

PHP Notice: Error: MySQL server has gone away<br />Error No: 2006<br />INSERT INTO cloudbackup_logs SET time = '2013-10-09 00:02:15', text = 'Finished' in /home/public_html/system/database/mysql.php on line 50

PHP Notice: Error: MySQL server has gone away<br />Error No: 2006<br />UPDATE cloudbackup_status SET `value` = '0' WHERE `key` = 'running' in /home/public_html/system/database/mysql.php on line 50

If the developer sees this, please get in contact.

Thanks in advance

This is related to your server.
your sql server is offline.

wait and it should come back online.
If you see this happen more often contact your host.

Its happening every time I run the cron job, but the server is being contacted as its filling in the "started" and "finished" fields so it can't be that?.

Still contact your host.
the error is: Error: MySQL server has gone away
it means that your site is not able to contact the sql server because there is no connection to the sql server.

it can be that doing a databse dump initiatated from your site, will block the sql server as a means of security, or that your sql connections are at their limit set by your hosting.

So it definitly is a hosting problem.
had same with my former hosting no problems after i moved my sites to a other host, as previous hosting would not change their policy with regards to sql loads
