Why contributions language doesn't accept foreign characters

Hi All,

I have been trying to install 2 languages. In the standard language files that come with OC, if I use foreign characters e.g. ö ä å it works fine. However, if I try to get some of the contributions translated eg. your box module, login box module or any of the contributions made by forum members, these foreign characters display wrong and hence I must use its html code.

Is there something that can be done to do away with working with html code for characters?

Are you sure that the files are UTF-8 encoded?

There should be no problem with UTF-8 files, use Notepad ++ or ts_webeditor to edit.
