SEO keywords are used to create the SEO-friendly URLs in OC.

Can we have separate keywords for each language, just like we have separate META keywords, META descriptions and Descriptions for each language?

It seems a very interesting topic, no one knows how to apply SEO for each language that we have in store?

Brilliant! Thanks! Hopefully you'll be able to add to 1.5.0

It is quite a critical SEO functionality for multilingual carts.

The aim is to get a balance of the most popular keywords and the long-tail ones. Multilingual SEO needs some sort of smart work and common sense.

Thanks voodoo for your work, but considering all the multilingual features included in OC, this is more of a core feature...

Hi Everyone,

Any news on this feature request? It seems like it is still not possible in v 1.5.0.5 :( Correct me if I am wrong!

Peace,

Jambo

This should've been standard functionality in the version 1 of OpenCart. Please add SEO Keyword based on language like keywords and description fields in the next release please.

Excuse me for bumping this old topic, but I was looking for a solution for this. Since I couldn't find a free one, I made a simple solution to this using VQMOD. You may use it for free. I don't guarantee it works, use on your own risk, etcetera. Let me know if it helped!

To install:
1. Add a column named "language_id" to table url_alias. Assuming you use "oc_" as prefix for Opencart, you may use the following code:

Code: Select all

ALTER TABLE  `oc_url_alias` ADD  `language_id` INT NOT NULL AFTER  `url_alias_id` ;
2. add the .xml file to VQMOD

It should add the possibility to specify an SEO keyword for every active language to your categories and products like this:

Current flaw in the solution:
1. When you click a category or product, Opencart automatically chooses the SEO keyword with the lowest ID in the database for the URL. So when you're on an English page, and you navigate to a category or product it's possible that you get another language in your address bar. Like this: www.opencart.com/tv-series/dokter-huis/, while it should choose www.opencart.com/tv-series/doctor-house.
2. Language and SEO keywords in the URL aren't linked at all. When you go to opencart.com/tv-series/dokter-huis you might still get the English version of your website, instead of the Dutch version.

I will fix this next week, and post an updated file.
