I have a few items that are pretty big and do not want to deal with the hassle of shipping them. is there any way I can make these item "available for pick up only" ???

I know that the "requires shipping" option is only there to see if shipping charge should be applied to the item, but customers are still able to pay for the item. I don't want to be constantly refunding funds, which is what this leads to.

I want an option that says pick up only and does not let them pay for the item. how would this be possible?

i guess you could try product based shipping, in the extension store.

And if you look at payment methods you have cash on delivery, this is basically a free checkout, you could change the wording to say, pay at store.

and the shipping method, pick up from store would also be used.

How sure are you that this mod will actually work for me?

I have had some one tell me to buy a ups module and it did not fix the problem I am have.

And I noticed that the module you recommended does not have a demo for me to test out.

I havent used the mod, so i cant tell you how well it works, what i do know, is others have wanted a product based shipping extension, and it was developed.

I would check that it covers your version of opencart, look at the comments people have posted, and if not completely sure, contact the developer for answers to your questions.

But as i understand it, the extension allows you to set specific shipping methods based on individual products, which is the only way you could have the set up you want, for some and not all products.

And as for the other mods, as i say, Cash on Delivery payment method, is simply a free checkout which records the order details, so changing the language file to say, pay at store, would be no different in terms of functionality, but would show the customer what he/she needs to do.

As for pick up from store, you could in theory totally bypass this, by making the product, not require shipping, but it may mislead the customer in to think it would be shipped, so my opinion is its best to use this method to show it wont be shipped and only handled over once they come in and make a payment.

You could use Restrict Shipping Methods to do what you're describing, and just restrict all your shipping methods to be enabled when NONE of those specific products are in the cart.

You'd then change the "no shipping options" error message (in /catalog/language/english/checkout/checkout.php) to whatever you wanted it to say, such as "your cart contains items that cannot be shipped". If you wanted a customer to be able to checkout with Pickup From Store when just those specific items are in the cart, then you could also restrict that shipping method to appear when ONLY ANY of those products are in the cart.

Feel free to contact me if you have further questions.

The link above should be redirected to: http://www.opencartx.com/restrict-shipping-methods

It doesn't appear to be working correctly at the moment, but I'll take a look and try to fix it.

Is there any way to restrict payment methods when they select pick up from store?

For card safety reasons we cannot allow customers to pick up items they have bought online, due to possible fraud.

Yes, you can restrict based on shipping method. Check out the demo from the extension page

Basically i have product "A" that i dont want to ship to all geozones apart from 1.
i have product "B" that i dont want to ship at all but will allow pickup which means i want them to be able to finish the checkout by selecting pickup and then only allow COD (change name to "pay in store") payment options.

will this module allow me to do this?
