hello, I need help to sort out shipping options, I need the 3 options (1st class, recorded & special delivery) for uk shipping, and airmail and international signed for for outside UK orders, I also want free uk delivery for orders over £10. I really don't want to have to go down the weigh every item route as we have a huge selection of small items, with stock changing all the time, and 99% of our order are the under 100g uk weight limit. Is this possible with opencart, I have been told by the company making my site that this is not possible, it doesn't seem like too much of an ask. I am currently using another off the shelf cart that I set up myself that had these options 10 years ago!! thanks for any help in advance.
I want fixed charges, IE: each order to have a fixed delivery charge, not based on weight, if someone wants to buy something, then I want them to be able to choose how it is sent to them, by either normal 1st class delivery(1-5 days delivery with no signature), recorded delivery(1-5 days with a signature on delivery), or special delivery(next day guaranteed with a signature and also insured), regardless of how many items they buy .
I do not want to have the work of having to weigh every item that we have for sale, we sell jewellery and items are small and only weigh 2-5grams for each item, so I think weight will be pointless, as nearly every order we currently send is less than 100g, so falls within the same category for "large letter" for royal mail's system. Pretty basic stuff really, for example, if you go to amazon and buy something from a merchant, you should pay a fixed rate, usually no matter how many items you buy, or if you want it sent quicker, or to another country, then there are fixed charges for that too. I don't think that option is cutting edge, its the same as many online shops already offer, and have offered for as long as I have had an online shop over 10 years.., buy something, choose how you want it sent and that's it!

oh, I forgot to mention, I also would like the option of free standard delivery(1st class)(or a relative discount from the shipping method they choose) if the customer spends more than a set amount(the same as most of myself(and all my current competitors) are offering on our current sites.
How it works at the moment is, I can choose as many shipping options as I want(for fixed rate shipping), each different option obviously has a price which is added to the customers total and that's it. thanks

It sounds like you could use Total-Based Shipping, which would allow you to create multiple rate options, and based them on the cart total.
Yes, you can set up as many rates as you want, based on the order total. Feel free to take a look at the screenshots and demo site (which includes some examples of various set-ups), then let me know at www.getclearthinking.com/contact if you have any further questions.
