Looks good to me... looks like the upgrade worked. You'll have to upgrade your theme, because 1.4.x themes aren't compatible with 1.5.x. And you'll also have to select which modules you want to display on the different pages.
So, as a test, enable the featured module for the home page.

If you see demo data, then you likely overwrote your config.php files when you uploaded all the files and instead of upgrade, you basically overwrote your site with new install. Restore your db and try again, paying close attention to "UPload all files EXCEPT config.php and admin/config.php"mothercruncher wrote:Hey folks,
Im stumped and I'd really appreciate some advice/help.
I'm attempting to upgrade from version 1.4.9.5 and using this script in conjunction with a fresh download of the 1.5.1.2 Opencart files.
I follow the readme and everything works. I run the upgrade script and get the SUCCESSFUL message and then visit install/index.php for v 1.5.1.2 and also get a "successful" message for that upgrade.
The shop front end loads BUT the readme explicitly states that there should be, quote, "NO products or modules". I see all of the dummy laptop type products all there![]()
Secondly, when I attempt to use SYSTEM > BACKUP/RESTORE to import my database backup (I presume this is the way I re-instate my products/users etc??) I get an error thus:
--------------------------
Error: Unknown column 'store_id' in 'where clause'
Error No: 1054
SELECT * FROM setting WHERE store_id = '0'
--------------------------
I've already installed, had this error, reverted to the original 1.4.9.5 install and re-installed again... same issue.
Many thanks for any help
I have the version 1.4.7 ... Because the last version shows a big bug...
Now, if I uploaded this script with Filezilla to the root...

Read this post in its entirety.

Then read the text file that came with the download.
Haven't upgraded yet (if it aint broke..) but I am finaly going to get round to it and have some questions..
After upgrading it will take me some time to re-do all the mods that I have done on our current 1.4.9.4 installation, in which time we will have taken quite a few more orders on the live site, so the database will be old. Is there any way of avoiding this problem? I was thinking running the upgrade script, modifying everything, backing up the new 1.5.x files via FTP, start from the begining again but obviously upgrading the very latest version of the 1.4.9.4 database then copying the previously backed up modified 1.5.x files back again, but I'm not sure if that would work in practise (modified files should be ok but changing template and other things might get reversed with the new database?)
Secondly, I have installed this mod http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... ion_id=884 amongst others that I know definitely have altered the database. Will the new database tables be kept when upgrading?
Thanks

new db tables will be fine. It only knows about core tables so anything extra will remain. It's not easy to backup... then keep the old site live while working on the new site unfortunately. That's always the rub. Best to get the module working on a separate 1.5.x shop and when you know its 1.5.x ready, then upgrade your store and copy over the new working version.lloydmedley wrote:Haven't upgraded yet (if it aint broke..) but I am finaly going to get round to it and have some questions..

I did run the upgrade script. (I am sorry, but my english is not the best, I am brazillian, but thanks for help!)
But now I did it run again (the upgrade script).
And I got this error (but the first time I did not get any errors):

ive read EVERY post, and tried this so many times, that i can now do most of it without even thinking about it, but, it still doesnt work,
because i didnt want to risk this on my live shop, i first copied EVERYTHING over to a new domain to practise on, and am i glad that i did, as ive been trying this for weeks
im on opencart 1.4.9.3, i have backed up my database, backed up my entire files via ftp, created a new database, imported the database backup, ftp'd the files, and a perfect copy of my shop runs on my new domain
i then rename the config files, upload all the new files, delete the new configs, change the name back on the original ones, upload the update script, run the update script, get a success message, with NO errors, then run the opencart updater, which goes through fine, and then end up with my shop screen full of text telling me about missing variables
in the last 6 hours, ive tried just about every way i can think of, all with the same end result, and am on the point of smashing the TV up, jumping off the roof, or turning to drink and drugs
ive become an expert at backing up, and moving an entire opencart installation during the last 6-8 weeks, but getting this to work has beaten me down, id now be prepared to actually pay somebody to do it for me

Could be related to your template. 1.4.x templates won't work on 1.5.x stores. Have you tried switching to the default template?

i created a new blank database, then imported the old one into it. uploaded the latest opencart.
i then run the beta3 script, followed by the tag script
next i imported my entire images folder via ftp
i then copied the 2 config files, from the root folder and the admin folder, you are told to add stuff to the top of only one config file, but, unless i added it to both, i continued to get errors
after this, i run the /mysite/install upgrade script
after about 9 weeks of trying EVERY possible way i could think of, 'upgrading' from 1.4.9.3 failed me, but, by doing the above (while leaving my original shop live) i was able to transfer everything over eventually
I managed to do everything, i made the upgrade all way through, i can login in the admin area, all the data (customers, sales, products) are there, but my website isn't showing any products on the webpage.

Hello,
i want to follow the upgradescript but im hanging at step 4a. It says i should upload all new opencart files. But in 4b it tells me i should upload the install folder of the upgrade script. Thats something i should have done in the first lines of the readme already.
So now im not sure what to do. Does this mean that i only need the upgrade script, upload the installfolder and use the php-script inside like in the readme or does it mean that i need the upgradescript + opencart version 1.5.1.2? Do i first upload the files for 1.5.1.2 that arent included in the upgrade script and then upload the install folder and run the upgrade? Im not sure what step 4a refers to.
I know that i first have to use the upgradescript to get to 1.5.1.2 and later update to later versions but the first post in this thread nor the readme push away my doubts what step 4a means. If it means the original opencart version 1.5.1.2 then it would have been mentioned probably somewhere but it isnt. So it seems to state that only the upgradescript is needed. Whats correct?
Thanks!
Sebastian

OK i am just looking for some clarification on using this script. What is the process to go from 1.5.1.2 to the latest version 1.5.4.1.
Do i need to upgrade to 1.5.1.2 first then go from there to 1.5.1.4?
I have been reading through the posts and i am not sure what the best way to do this is?
thanks in advance

Hi I have been looking at this script and step by step walk through for a while now and have tried a few tests but my requirements are slightly different in that i don't want to keep the website i have on 1.4 so i have no need to do the full upgrade process of going to 1.5.1 then through the works up to the latest version.
I am building a completely new website with the latest version of 1.5. My question is what is the best way to convert my 1.4 database to 1.5 all i want to save is customers and orders everything else is going to be created as new with 1.5.
Is it possible to convert my 1.4 DB to 1.5 quickly with this script if I'm not too worried about breaking all the website files as there irrelevant to me anyway with my plan to rebuild a brand new 1.5 install however i do need to save and somehow import all my existing customers and orders so not to loose this data.
I think like many others the problem is running the live 1.4 site and working on the new 1.5 site the data will quickly become dated whilst rebuilding the new template structure for the new site so was hoping i could just save the database info for customers and orders and import those tables into my new site once its ready.
Thanks in advance

Hi there
Can you confirm that I can upgrade from 1.4.9.1 directly to 1.5.4.1? I have downloaded the script and am following the instructions. Do I need ot upgrade to a lower version of 1.5 first? or can I jump straight to 1.5.4.1?
Many thanks!!!

evening all!
My upgrade has gone very well. Really pleased! Have upgraded from 1.4.9.1 to 1.5.4
Couple of bits that are not working. When I look at Total Based Shipping module in admin I get the following error:
Fatal error: Cannot access private property Document::$title in /home/xxxremovedxxx/public_html/admin/controller/shipping/totalbased.php on line 20
I added in the removed bit.
The totalbased.php page is there on the server. Do I need to chmod? currently 644.
I get a similar error on some other modules, but most are working.

If you read it carefully, it does say you should install the "LATEST" version of opencart.travist6983 wrote:OK i am just looking for some clarification on using this script. What is the process to go from 1.5.1.2 to the latest version 1.5.4.1.

The upgrade script only handles the database updating up to 1.5.1.2
As of 1.5.1.3 and later, the upgrade script handles the database changes from 1.5.1.2 to latest.
You do not need to install v1.5.1.2 first.
