Affiliate Transactions Not Showing Up In 1.5.4.1

I have a new site using 1.5.4.1 & I am working on setting up the affiliate program.
I created my own test affiliate & generated the affiliate code for a product, put it on another site, clicked on it, bought the item but no affiliate transactions are showing up in the affiliates account or the main site with the affiliate program.
Now after messing with it, I did another transaction it shows up as zero commission, I get an email from my site saying I got zero commission. And in the admin now it shows 1 transaction 0 balance & I did 2 more transactions & they dont show up at all !!
I set the orders to complete, shipped in admin & nothing changes, I made sure I copied the tracking code correctly & still nothing.

Is this a bug or just me having this problem ?

Any ideas how to fix or I have to get an extension that does this ?
I am not a programmer, so talk Emglish to me.
