I have decided to remove the layout in 1.3.3. Instead you will only be able to drill down. It will mean you use children instead of the layout attribute. You will have to update older templates.

Hey Daniel,

Could you please explain exactly what this means?
As i haven't a clue what you mean about drill down, children and layout attribute.

Thanks very much.

well thats the next 2months for me now gone, over 20 templates I'm going to have to update :(

Are there plans to change the template system again in the future? As its a pain in the arse to keep updating them all the time.

So there will be a main template or 'parent' and we can create 'child' templates through different stylesheets (importing the parent css stylesheets for basic structure, which can also be edited if needs be)?

Sounds awesome and will allow more flexability! Should be easier for newcomers to opencart to get to grips with.

Feature lists have been discussed on other posts on forum. Plus it will hopefully be with us at the weekend so full feature list will be released with it Im sure.

@ddr - Daniel has already said you will have to update older templates i.e. every template for any previous version. The whole system of templates/themes is changing (for the better).

Good to hear that things are changing for the better but being as there aren't any major security issues with 1.3.2 I'm not going to bother updating my sites.

lol soo many people live for the "latest" and think they must upgrade!.. Only upgrade if there is a feature that you must have or a bug that you can't patch.

Will we still be able to control all aspects of the layout?

I know majority can be controlled via the CSS in the current version but, what if I wanted to edit the order boxes appear in the homepage for example?

I understand what you mean by child/parent - just a little confused of how much an impact this will have from a modding point of view :)

I was wondering if this is the version that also allows customers to upload files (logos and small image files) for businesses that use these images/logos for embroidery, screenprinting or engraving? I know it was mentioned that this was coming soon....any ideas?

Hi,
There will be any changes on products tables? Cause I must upload great database from oscommerce to opencart. I need one more thing, I have wrote a payment gateway for Opencart. I will publish in on this site soon. Is there any changes in modules?

Looks like it didn't happened over this weekend. :(
I guess this is just a good practice to improve our patience.
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.
