?? Developer Guide for Extensions

I'm going to figure this out eventually as I really want to put together an Authorize.net extension but wondered if anyone who has successfully written an extension for OpenCart couldcould pass on just a structural overview of how extensions fit in to OpenCart?

I am looking for something similar myself.

I am planning to write a bulk import/export module from/to Excel Spreadsheet format for products and categories, and if I can find some information on how to correctly integrate such an extension into the OpenCart MVC framework I'd be willing to donate such an extension module to other users of OpenCart.

I don't have time to write a full development manualy, but the next release has a API.
