Is there a way to add a shipping surcharge?

For example - if I ship 1st class mail for a 2 oz package, Opencart tells me it's $1.71. That being said - paypal charges me $1.75 for that shipping label because it adds in delivery confirmation. It also doesnt account for my envelope, packing materials, etc.

How do I set a surcharge for shipping?

If you don't mind the shipping surcharge being displayed to the customer, I have a Shipping-Based Fee/Discount extension which allows you add a flat rate or percentage fee based on the shipping cost.

If you want it hidden, you'll have to modify the code for your shipping method's model file, and add the cost in to its calculations.

Some look great, but to be honest, I'm STUNNED at the cost of some of these modules. To make my cart do what I WANT it to do, I figure it'd cost me over $600 in modules and extensions. For that I can buy a 3dcart site for a few years. Every feature I'm tring to put into this opencart is because I already use it on 3dcart.

Is opencart designed to be as bareboned as possible, for the purpose of selling modules? I'm stunned at how LITTLE opencart does out of the box. At least, as compared to commercial options...

OpenCart does most of what other free carts do. You are comparing a free cart to a commercial cart? Guess what.. linux does very little compared to windows.

Not in my experience. It does less if you dont know how to use it. In my use of it, it does more, for less MONEY.
