Code: Select all

Lastly the ‘Show View’ radio buttons under the ‘For Category’ section within the ‘News CMS Setting’ do not work properly.

The radio button is currently set to Yes, but if I try to change it to No then both radio buttons are shown selected. If I save the page then it reverts back to Yes being selected.

Fix :
Openfile : admin/view/template/news/setting.tpl

find code (line 87 )

Code: Select all

<input type="radio" name="news_config_showviews" value="0" <?php if($news_config_showview==0) echo 'checked';?>/> <?php echo $entry_news_no; ?>
change to

Code: Select all

<input type="radio" name="news_config_showview" value="0" <?php if($news_config_showview==0) echo 'checked';?>/> <?php echo $entry_news_no; ?>
Regards
Jimmy

This is an awesome mod... It's been a learning curve trying to figure out the weird ass SEO keyword interface on Opencart though... I'd really like a way to add extensions to the URL's though, and so far haven't figured it out. Anyway you could give me a push in the right direction? Thanks for your work Jimmy. It takes OpenCart to the next level in my opinion.

Jimmy - I see the comments on the product page where you provided template updates to an OpenCart user who uses the Shoppica theme in OpenCart. Could you share that with the rest of us too?

Thank you in advance!

Jimmy - I loaded these files to /catalog/view/theme/shoppica/template/news, and it's not working. I followed every detail of your setup instructions. This is still not working. I might be using a newer version of Shoppica than what you put together a couple of months ago. Well that sucks.

I was waiting for your CMS mod to be updated for 1.5. I don't wanna pay $52 for another mod as i'm quite happy with yours.

Any chance you'll reconsider? Your mod might not have all the bells and whistles as this one, but still some people might prefer yours.
Actually, I am about to release a simple CMS for Opencart 1.5.1.3 and later. It will use exactly the same DB tables as in Q's old CMS for Opencart 1.4.x. Was easier to do an almost complete rewrite of this CMS rather than just port Q's old CMS to the new Opencart version :)

I was really hard code for this , and I think the price of 45$ is consistent with CMS and Gallery and much more customizable, I also hope that new versions will be built-in CMS OpenCart

as well as a CMS again I find I have helped many people solve many of the job is done more gently!

Is there a way to put a Banner along the article page (left or right) as I do not see any dropdown links in the Layout menu?

Apart from that I am very happy and pleased with this extension, well done

Hi Jimmy,

thanks for the extension, definitely feel it's needed for Opencart, makes it a lot more versatile. There's a couple of things I think would make it even more versatile.

Put more of the settings as specific to each category rather than global e.g I'm using this to create a blog which I want social networking links for but also as a cms to create information page links in the header which I don't want social networking links to appear. Also rather than having the options for displaying extras such as allow comments, votes, create date, views etc be better handled per category, as I'd assume most people want an entire categorie's settings for articles to remain consistent and not want clients have to remember all the boxes they have to tick to get it to look right/

Just to give you all an update - Jimmy followed up & did some good customization work to make this module work with my theme. Visit my site if you're considering it for the Shoppica theme to see his work.

Thanks,

Hi Guys,

trying to get the article image to appear on the article page, I've tried copying the following code from the news category page but getting an undefined variable error. How do I get the image to appear in the article.tpl?

<?php if ($article['thumb']) { ?>
<a class="title" href="<?php echo $article['href']; ?>"><img class="thumb" src="<?php echo $article['thumb']; ?>" title="<?php echo $article['title']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $article['title']; ?>" /></a>
<?php } ?>

Cheers,

you mean wanna display article image in article page ?
try with below solution !

Step 1: open file : catalog\controller\news\article.php
find code (line 106)

Code: Select all

$this->data	['numvote'] = (int)$news_article_info['news_vote'];
add below code :

Code: Select all

//get article image
			if($news_article_info['news_image']){
				$this->data['images'] = HTTP_IMAGE.$news_article_info['news_image'];
			}else{
				$this->data['images'] = false;
			}
Step 2: open article template file : catalog\view\theme\default\template\news\article.tpl

add any where for show image of article with code :

Code: Select all

<?php if($images){ ?>
		<img src="<?php echo $images; ?>" title="<?php echo $heading_title; ?>" alt="<?php echo $heading_title; ?>" />
	<?php } ?>

Thanks Jimmy. Whilst I'm at it is it possible to have different layout templates for the different categories in the News CMS module? For instance I've got a Contact category, About category and Info category which I just want one module on the side to appear showing all the "articles" as a set of links.

I've also got a Blog category which I want some extra modules displayed e.g links to other blogs and a slighlty different layout.

Thanks again for the great module.

Hi Jimmy,

I've read through and understood what you pointed me to r.e. layout overides, but that only achieves being able to display modules on whichever category or article page you want them displayed from what I understand. Is it not possible to have a custom template file for each of the news categories and articles, as i Have 3 categories that are Info, about and Contact which I want to look like standard web pages, and then I have the blog section that i'd like styled like a blog and then finally an Articles and gear section which will have a slightly different look again.

Cheers,

Stu

The other thing I've noticed is that the news article module that is in the extensions section, if you click on the links they only show the SEO for the news article, the url misses off the news category part

For example I have a News Category called "blog", with a bunch of News Articles named "post1", "post2" etc. If I go to the news article module and set it up to appear on the home page, when I click on "post 1" I get taken to the following URL;

www.mywebsite.com/post1

instead of what I'd expect;

www.mywebsite.com/blog/post1

Could you advise how to make this happen?

Cheers,

Stu
