Changed to SEO URL's now cant access the admin page

Pressed YES to SEO URL's, hit save, it sat and thank for a while, then errored

Now I cant get back into the admin page to turn it off.

It now says

Error: Could not load language !

The first error was a SQL message saying too many connections, the host said SQL was fine, but I have too many connections???????

Also, I went into the root O.C. folder and there is no HTACCESS file like shown on a help page I found, it said to rename it, but it isnt there.

I have no clue what to do. I have no clue why it is asking for CYCLE.JS

Here is the error log

It's because you didn't rename the htaccess, it's usually hidden so maybe you didn't upload it. For seo you need it.

ti didnt install it, the host server had an option to automatically do it.

htaccess wasnt there, so I downloaded O.C., unzipped it, grabbed that file, renamed it from a text file to simply

.htaccess

uploaded it to the root folder, where O.C. resides

i closed all browsers, reopened to go back into the admin page

and still get

Error: Could not load language !

is there something else to try?

Now the new error log shows

[Sat Oct 08 09:34:32 2011] [error] [client 66.249.72.166] File does not exist: /home/belowcst/public_html/guest

are you on a free host? Could not language means you don't have the languange file.

you're getting lots of errors not related to opencart, those files don't exist in opencart. So yo better check what you have in your server, in the folder you installed oc.

Not installed on a freehost, installed and am using the host posted all over opencart.

arvixe

this problem, or the errors, didnt start until i switched on SEO

(wish I didnt now!)

everything was working, my theme, pages, images, etc. now on the site everything is jacked up.

The downloaded HTACCESS file straight from the opencart install, does it need to be modified in anyway, other than renaming?

If this cant be figured out, is there a way to turn off the SEO option behind the scene?

can you check your server what's /guest/addguest.html for? If you didn't put it there, then you should contact arvixe Have you installed a guestbook or something?.

Do you have another language installed than english?

My advise to you is to contact them to see what's happening. Turning seo on shouldn't cause those problems. There's something else going on. If you want to manually disable seo, you can do that directly from the database. Just look for the setting table, then config_seo_url, edit that and change the "value field" from 1 to 0 and save it. Hope this helps.

I tried that and it didnt work

so i removed the previous installation, kept the database and that info, and reinstalled it.

so now the new installation is pointing at the new empty database.

i tried copying over all info from the old to the new database (mysql) and that didnt work.

so is there a way to point the O.C. installation to look at the old database?

thank you

Just edit the two config files to point oc to the database you want to use.

You didn't mention if your newly installed oc is working?

I can access the control panel and the web site is online, but i need to point to other database to see if that works, so partially in the right direction, even though i lost hours and hours of work.

There are two config files?

In the root I see one file named config.php along with php.ini and a couple other files.

The other is in admin/.
To use the other database you need to change this section in both files.

Code: Select all

/ DB
define('DB_DRIVER', 'mysql');
define('DB_HOSTNAME', 'localhost');
define('DB_USERNAME', 'HERE');
define('DB_PASSWORD', 'HERE');
define('DB_DATABASE', 'HERE');
define('DB_PREFIX', '');

it means either your user or password are wrong. Or you didn't add the correct database name, don't forget to include the database prefix is there's one.

And also, be careful when posting errors so you don't include your database name or username.

and why do you want it with another database? If you had already some productos or information but not much, you could easily back up the appropriate tables, and just import them to the new database in phpmyadmin, or using opencart built in backup&restore tool.

this is almost like a nightmare that never ends.

you were right, it was the password.

so i changed both files and the password on each file.

so now the web site comes up without an error, and it actually shows the original products.

but now I can no longer get into

https://belowcost.net/admin

the screen comes up blank.

That probably means there's a typo in your admin/config.php. Check again your username and password and the paths on top of that file.

and sorry for the back and forth testing, I am still learning oc yet. Hopefully I've been helpful and soon someone will with more knowledge will see your post and give you the answer you need :-[

i dont know what it is, but there is more to it than just those two files.

i changed those two files back to the first database, and the admin page opens, and all works

i change those two files back again, and blank page

Maybe not the best way to do it, but I would just go with the newly installed one, and import whatever you need to it.
