I am adding a coupon code and all is going well, but there does not seem to be away to apply the discount to the shipping.

If I have $20 item with $6 shipping, and a $25 coupon, the total should be $1.

If I don't select "Free Shipping" then the total is only discounted $20 and the total is $6.
If I select 'Free Shipping" then the Total is $0.

Is there not an option for 'Apply to Shipping'?

You don't mention it, but I would have to guess that you are using a version of OpenCart that is 1.4.9.x or earlier. This is because you seem to be trying to force the coupon functionality to do the job of a gift voucher.

Unfortunately, coupons are not a substitute for gift vouchers. Coupons are designed to reduce your profit margin, but not to help you in making your business lose actual money. It won't let you pay your shipping company more cash money than your customer pays you! Only a gift voucher will allow that, because your store already collected the money when it issued the voucher.

You need either a gift voucher extension or to start preparing to migrate to 1.5.x when it has all of the other features that your store requires.

loL! I am not actually trying to lose money. Just doing a heartsy voucher, so need the Gift voucher function. I did try to migrate to 1.5.x but it imploded my site. I don't have time to deal with it, so I had my host revert me back a few months.

I am a DIYer and know just enough to get myself in trouble.

I did find a solution that works. I added a product with a price of -$25. Works like a charm!

Be VERY CAREFUL to hide and/or disable that "Product" immediately after its intended use.

I had to do this very same thing on a 1.4.9.3 store, and came up with the very same solution as you did. Unfortunately, I forgot that the "Product" would show up in the "New Products" side box (which I have since removed). In the five minutes the product was alive, another customer saw it and applied it to her purchase. Because of a foible of OpenCart, both customers were able to put the same "quantity one available" item in their shopping carts, and both were permitted to purchase them, and I ended up with -1 of these afterward. Fortunately, my "product" was only "-$8", which was not an enormous percentage of the product purchase price.

Thanks. This is a Heartsy.me voucher, and people will still have to supply their voucher code. I just won't ship anything until it is all legit.

Hey, did you run into a issue trying to get paypal to work when there was an item with a negative value? Paypal is chocking when I try to checkout!

Sorry, but all of the stores I manage take Offline Credit Cards, which allows us the luxury of avoiding PayPal's quirks, and makes order adjustments like this much easier to accomplish. Perhaps someone who uses PayPal extensively can comment on your predicament.

I'm looking for an extension that can take say 20% off of the shipping. Why is this not an option anywhere? Why go from full shipping to free shipping???? If shipping costs $45, then taking 20% off of it becomes attractive for customers.
