In your opencart root folder rename htacces.txt to .htaccess , then go your store's backend >system>setting>server select seo url and save.
Then , when you insert products , in seo keyword field , you insert the keyword/s you need , and instead of space , use "-"
If you allready have many products inserted , search on the opencartt extension directory for autoseo - its a free extension.

the file should be .htaccess not .htaccess.

no worries it happens more than you would think because of the way the instructions are written with that filename at the end of the sentence.

Hello,
Same problem too.
The file is .htaccess and the server returns the same error:
Not Found
The requested URL /about was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Am i missed something?
Please someone help me!
Thank you

Did you rename the file prior to upload? if so read below
make sure you disable "hide extensions for known file types" in windows because you may have renamed it to .htaccess.txt by accident.
Open a window or folder on your desktop, go to tools>Folder Options>View> and untick "Hide extensions for known file types"
Now go back to your .htaccess file and check it isnt called htaccess.txt
Open it in notepad then save as .htaccess and select "all files" instead of save as *.txt
Or
Do you have your shop in a folder and not the root directory? if so, you need to edit .htaccess and add change RewriteBase / to RewriteBase /foldername/
