Hello,

Just a quick note to say that no official integration has been built yet so if anyone is interested, now is the time

Any integration can be given away for free or sold via our website. To get maximum exposure, we would recommend building a simple integration which you would give out for free, and then a more complex one you could sell.

Integration guidelines:
http://www.mobi-cart.com/blog/features/ ... i-released

iPhone native app: LIVE

iPad native app: (coming soon)

Android native app: (coming soon)
No screenshots vailable.

Thank you that's great news.

Our team is also on hand to help should anyone have any questions.

We are also open to customizing our API to make sure it fits in perfectly with opencart.

Just stumbled upon this mobi app - sounds pretty sweet.

But could someone explain to me the difference between using this and say this: http://www.algozone.com/opencart-mobile ... c76ba18e0e

Apart from the $89 cost obviously.

This is a native app, that you find in the app store! :)

That is just a template that looks better in mobilephones

Yes native apps are much more powerful than a web app. Native apps have a better UI experience and can also handle many powerful features such as push notifications, locations, barcode scanning etc.

We are however also working on a web app version:

Thanks for the replies, but what are the actual differences?

In my very simple mind I just can't see the difference. I understand that the one is a native app that currently is only available on an iphone, and the other is a template that looks good on all phones/tablets and has all the functionality of opencart as well.

Why bother with the native app is my question? I'm not knocking the app in any way, just curious really.

A native app can be downloaded from the app store and is much more powerful. It has a better UI experience and access to loads of great features such as push notifications, barcode scanning, voice recognition etc.

Web apps do not need to be downloaded. You just need to access the site via a mobile browser. However they are not as features rich as a native app, the features I listed above and many more are just not available on the web.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply, much appreciated - I don't need those features for my store currently so I'll go with the template.

All the best with the Opencart launch in the future and hopefully I can use your app on another project!

Thanks again for taking the time to explain further and all the best with expanding to other platforms. :)

Thank you and we also have a web app coming out in July so you are welcome to use that without the native app.

However I think you are missing a trick, native apps bring a shopping experience to life.

Its not just about shopping, its also about being able to bring customers in store.

Imagine being able to send someone a push notification if they walked within a mile of your store or checked in to claim some rewards? That's far more powerful than any email marketing.

As far as barcode scanning, it could be used to checkout without going to the till or even to compare products.

As far as augmented reality, you could take a photo of yourself and then show an item above such as a pair of glasses.

And lastly, the native app is much faster than the web and has a much better UI experience. The iPad app will work like a real magazine you can turn pages on!

Thanks again,

Wladimir

Our little site is quite niche in who we will be selling to, and they will business customers in 99% of the time and all wil be done online. This is really only a backup incase we have people wanting to buy via mobile/other at any point - which is highly unlikely but I want to make it easy if it happens.

I love the idea of the native app if we had a real shop though! Sounds absolutely amazing. Will probably check out your web app though - I'm not really in any rush to get it sorted at the moment.

I am very interested in this app from MobiCart. Thanks to you and all your developers for bringing this project to life. It is something that is truly needed and I wish all the guys and gals associated with your company the best success!

Regarding the native iPhone app vs the mobile template, I understand that the native app is more feature rich. However, one thing I also believe (but not sure of), is that if you have a native app for your shop that can be downloaded from the app store, then you also have to agree to Apple's Terms of Service and bow to any pressure they may put on you regarding your app and online store, is this correct? Don't get me wrong, I love Apple and use their products myself, but I have heard their app store guidelines and terms are very restrictive in as far as what you can and cannot do, can or cannot sell, etc. etc. Personally I don't really want a 3rd party dictating to me how I must run and manage my online shop.

For myself, I would rather have a mobile template that just looks awesome on the iPhone, iPad, Android, or any other mobile web browser. I am very much eagerly awaiting your companies mobile template and will be one of the first to buy it once you release it (I see on your website you expect it out at the end of July). Can't wait until it's released, and again, thank you guys at Mobi-Cart for all your hard work!

All the best, and looking forward to a kick ass mobile template.

Thank you, that's very kind of you.

Code: Select all

Yes you do have to agree to Apple T&C's but I have never heard of this affecting an online store. I've certainly never come across this with any MobiCart app.

Thank you and the MobiCart web app will actually be free. You will just need to copy/paste one line of code into the

Code: Select all

<head></head>
section of your website.

Thanks again,

I'm kinda confused on the whole HTML5 web app.

Is this going to be a mobile theme that we can use for our OpenCart shop? Will we be able to download it and install it on OpenCart and then all mobile viewers will be redirected to the it?

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
