Some of you might have seen that there is a new page for documentation.

http://wiki.opencart.com

I could really do with some help in filling up the user documentation for working with opencart. It should help in the number of questions being asked in the forum.

I plan to add developer documentation later on after I finish the payment / shipping modules.

Hi,

Sorry for late reply. What exactly I need to put in the documentation?
It is just like the overall documentation about open cart ?

Thanks.

Just start from the categories and go through each page writing a documentation about each field.

Hi Daniel,

I can probably help out with the user guide, end user guide rather. Let me know if you need any help there.

I am a new web developer (and very new to php) using open cart for a project in school. I (we, it 's a group project) am(are) required to provide Documentation for the project.
The project is due the end of August. At that time I(we) will send you (Daniel) my Documentation for review.
Basically it will be a "user's guide " for the back end. Hopefully this will help

Hi Daniel,

Yes I am familiar with the wiki, I just have to get a little bit of time together to start something - but I definitely want to help out where I can.

I may change my topic because of the post after mine for an backend guide, which is essential an end user guide.

I will focus on creating documentation on a basic module - I may need some information from you on this to start.

Daniel

Looking through the code it's nice and clean... but undocumented.

Have you considered using PHPDoc?

I know developers hate documentation, but using this at an early stage in the project can have benefits especially for an open project with multiple sub-developers where they need a package/class/method/variable listing and description without wading through the code.

Have a look at how PHP's SPL is documented to understand how it's so beneficial.

Regards

Stephen

Wow, count me in... I didn't know there was a wiki till just now. I'll start adding soon. Can you add 1.2.9 or should we just add user documentation all together in the one place?

Things can change quite considerably between releases so the it would need to be by version really.
