Additional shipping cost on top of weight base shipping

Hello, I am new to eCommerce, I am setting up our own eShop. My current shipping method includes weight base shipping, that's working fine. I need another shipping/ charging method such that I can offer our customers an option to opt for.

Example: Customer A purchases item 001 at $14.9, weight base shipping calculates it as $1 for postage, he/she will then choose to opt for registered mail, additional $2.3 is required.

Total he/she need to pay is $14.9+$1 +$2.3= $18.2, if no registered mail is chosen, then the amount remains $14.9 +$1=15.9.

Any help is appreciated.

You don't say which version you're using. If you using 1.4.x, you can use my free weight-based mod that includes a base cost:

If you're using 1.5.x, I don't know of any extension available yet.

Hi Jonathan, I have tried your module, however, I would want to let the customer to have the option of adding the additional cost rather than we add it up front.

The weight base shipping still stays true, while I have to provide an option for the customer to add the additional cost at a fixed rate.

Example:

Postage base on weight base + $2.3 -> Registered Mail
Postage base on weight base -> Normal Mail

Your extension add the additional cost automatically but does not allow customer to choose.

Hmm...yeah, I didn't notice that you wanted it optional. I don't know of an extension that allows this, but feel free to check out the extension store:
