Hi there. I use the opencart v1.1.8. As I am a Hongkonger I make my own language pack (i.e. Tranditional Chinese) in the webpage.
It works well in Firefox 3.0 but I found out later in IE the middle table of the "Latest Products" will drop under the "Information" table.
Also, in the product's review page of the Chinese language version, the verification picture does not show as the English page does.
All the Chinese language pages are in UTF-8 in order to show properly. I think it may be the reason of the failures, but I don't know how to solve it :(
Can anyone help me?

Hi:

Solution:

At the catalog\language folder i have a file named spanish.php (similar to the default english.php)

When i save my file as UNIX/UTF-8 on my Windows machine i cannot see the verification image.

but if i save the file as UNIX/ANSI then there is the image.

Best,

Hilde

Thanks Hilde. I tried and the verification image finally appeared.
But there is another problem -- the Chinese charachers become unreadable monsters :(
Does anyone have a way to solve this as well as the middle div problem?

P.S.: I found another problem on the admin main page. The statistic graph does not come up, even in English page. I tried the version on my own PC before uploading to the site, and it works fine in my own localhost server. What can be the reason the graph not to appear?

the problem with the stats is because you installed IE8.

I'm going to use different software in the next release.

It was an IE7 actually (7.0.6000.16791) :'(

And I would like to know how to solve the table placing problem the most. Will it be the problem that I use UTF-8 instead of ASNI for the language files? I cannot use ASNI or the characters turn into strange characters :(

I found that the IE bug of margin: auto in css occurs in my Chinese pages... :o
The English page is perfect although, I just wonder if I can do anything to solve it...

The MySQL server checks records in utf-8 now and the database just works correctly.

The status of my OC setting:
Coding of language folders "t_chinese" in /admin/language/ and /config/language/ : UTF-8
All the other files : ANSI
MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)
MySQL connection collation: utf8_unicode_ci

Should I change all the php into UTF-8 coding? Please give me some advices.

i'll look into this.

Some one else reported the problem and found a solution.

Its not actually OpenCart's fault its how PHP has been coded.

You may try to change the MySQL settings as follow:
MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)
MySQL connection collation: utf8_unicode_ci

>>Daniel
I have posted one on this post.

HI:

I'm not sure but perhaps...

1.- Open the file

2.- Change the file format from original ANSI to UTF-8

3.- write the words in your language.

4.- Save the file as ANSI.

best,

Hilde
