Hello everybody, new to the open cart space. Firstly i must say open cart seems to be less confusing than oscommerce to configure, with a straight forward admin system.

I installed open cart version v1.2.3 this worked a dream, then began to customise default template. I uploaded few products, proceeded to payment gateway stage to find there are still some issues regarding Paypal and google checkout with this version of open cart.

from combing the forum it seems i should be using version v0.7.9. i have now started to install this version but getting the following error:

Error: Unknown column 'type' in 'where clause'
Error No: 1054
select * from setting where type = 'catalog' or type = 'global'

I have two questions to ask

1. Can i you any reputable payment gateways with the latest version or will i have to revert back to previous version?

2. Can anyone help me with the error i am getting in the browser.

Thanks for your time speak to you soon

Shane

1.2.3 is fine with paypal.

What is the error you were getting?

Also 1.2.3 does not have google checkout.

"from combing the forum it seems i should be using version v0.7.9."

Don't use v0.7.9 the latest version works fine. 1 person on the forum is promoting v0.7.9 because they are continuing to develop it.

Hello everyone.

I have gone back to my original installation, i was for most of the night looking at documentation for configuring paypal, i set up a paypal account to test the new site for client, then tried to proceed but i cannot seem to make this happen, can anyone point me in the right direction, also is it possible to use protx payment gateway.

Your thoughts our suggestions would be most helpful

Thanks

Okay then People,

Sorry to sound so new to ecommerce, but i had to start somewhere.

After setting up a paypal account, i bought an item from the site which went through to paypal and extracted funds from my account.

1. This tells me i have some success, the gateway seems part configured.
2. could someone please point me in the right direction of where i place my paypal details or what files i need to amend, or any documentation supporting configuring to paypal.( bit stuck)
3. just made my first donation to open cart £11.75

Why does the payment go to webmaster@opencart.com, how do i change this link?

Thanks

Shane

It should not be going to webmaster@opencart.com I might have left the email there by mistake after testing.

Goto admin > extension > payment > paypal.

The information is pretty straght forward.

I noticed on the v1.2.3 that that address showed up in the paypal payment box. I just figured it was a dummy address, (heck maybe you will get some payments). You may wish to verify this on the most recent version.

Well after working all night, no joy, these issues are eating me away, firstly i changed the email address in the admin panel. I then verified my pay pal account (premier account).

Questions i need to ask:

1. do i need a business account to make paypal work with opencart premier does almost the same?(except Multi-user access)
2. what files within opencart do i need to modify to complete process? I read the following but seems to be for a previous release of opencart ( http://www.opencart.org/opencart/INSTALL)
3. do i still need authorise.net if client is directed thru to paypal to make a card transaction?
4. i must be nearly there know?

Thanks
