Create a separate home and shop page

Hello,

Wondering if anyone has any experience in creating a separate home and shop page.

The shop page needs to function just like the current 'home' page in opencart.

The Home page needs to be a basic page with perhaps 1 added categories module and shopping cart.

I have no idea why you cant just use the information module as a "home" page and the category module as a "cart" page.

Care to elaborate on that last point?
