Hello.

I have added the CSV Mod from here http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... order=DESC

I have a couple of questions I am hoping I could have answered by someone please.

Questions A:

I already have over 100 products already displayed, after downloading the 'products' Excel sheet. I can see all the products I have already on the site.
  • Can I simply start adding the next product in the excel sheet?

Can I leave the date fields blank then upload the excel via the 'import' on the site?

Leaving the dates blank, will the dates be placed in automaticall after the import?

Questions B:

I have noticed that the product discription needs to be downloaded in a seperate excel sheet. As the 'Products' dont allow for the discription to be added.
  • Can I download the 'Products Discription' excel sheet, then add this to the 'Products' excel sheet, by adding a new sheet and pasting all that information into the same excel workbook? Then upload the one workbook so it all goes into together?

Or can I add the 'product discription' colums into the 'Products' sheet from the 'Product Discription' sheet?

I have not as yet, uploaded using the CSV import/export as yet. But when I do, will it over ride everything that is already there?

other questions -
  • If there is a price change to some products, or I need to add 100 more products to the list, is it ok to always keep continuing from the last product in the excel sheet then import the whole thing again?

By doing this, will all other information be left alone, so i dont have to go back in and change, say, the decrition again?
I hope I have explained myself okay.

Thanks

Is there any actual support forum for the CSV import/export mod??

I am searching the forums hoping to find any answers. Has no one actually go any issues with that mod? Perhaps those may help shead some light for me.

I cannot seem to get this mod to work correctly. I tried uploading the CSV files, eventhough the message came back as the csv fils was successfully uploaded. No images and data information was added to the products, However, when I went to the front end I went to the category where I uploaded them to, The number of pages really increased like the products were there, after taking a look I got a error message. Then all the products I had uploaded one by one before trying the CSV mod, they just all disappeared, There was not one product on showing in the front end, after checking the admin for the products, there were none!!

Luckly I backup before trying the import, so I managed to restore the SQL file.

I have checked the error log, Ihave these error messages:

2011-02-03 7:54:04 - PHP Notice: Undefined index: reqd in /home/XXXXX/public_html/catalog/view/theme/default/template/product/product.tpl on line 79
2011-02-03 8:19:17 - PHP Notice: Undefined variable: text_error in /home/xxxxx/public_html/catalog/view/theme/default/template/product/category.tpl on line 22

Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I will look into this. It works for me everytime I try to reproduce these problems.

Are you positive there are no commas in the descriptions?

Remember, csv will start a new column for every comma.

There are ways around it, like wrapping in quotes, but that can depend on the exact method you are using.

Gentlemen,

Is there a example of correct CSV format?
Is there a problem if data in CSV is non-English?
Thanks in advance.
