client specific products possible?

I have set up the shop all working fine, I have added a range of users to the site.

My objective is to have as site with multiple clients, all selling their own products, but having their own admin too.
So all of the products or all clients are viewed together, but managed separately.

So their products are viewed with everyone elses, but when managing the products they only manage their own.

I guess its more a marketplace than a shop. I am pretty much a novice to this but seeking advice from those in the know!

I see this requested all the time, but I've never seen a successful mall/bazaar type site. Every one I ever see looks like an abandoned ghost town with no signs of activity (other than amazon/ebay but that's a whole other league). Can anyone point me to a successful site?
