Sort by price does not include special price.

Hey all, just trying to figure out how to incorporate the special price when customers try to sort using the drop down menu "low to high"

example - http://magazinesubhub.com/Crafts

I think the whole way how the price High - Low sorting works needs to be adjusted to work correctly with the Special Prices.
Personally, I have no clue $:-\$
