IT IS NOT THE FINISHED PRODUCT! DO NOT USE FOR A LIVE CART!
I have closed the other 1.5.0 progress threads and we can start a new discussion here now that there is more to discuss.
What works:
- Most admin menus
- Module instances
- Some (few) module positions
- Global options
What doesn't work:
- Most of the basics don't work
- Add to cart/wishlist/etc does not work
- A lot of it still has development debugging code and alert boxes
DO NOT REPORT BUGS BECAUSE WE DON'T CARE AT THIS POINT
BUT PLEASE DO MAKE GENERAL COMMENTS OR SUGGESTIONS THAT COULD BE GOOD CHANGES
While this is not a finished product, it is highly likely that this will be the new theme and most of the functionality or functionality place holders that you see will be in the final version.
Developers, I will release the code shortly and you can look at the code base for some foreshadowing on changes they will need to make for extensions and themes. A few points of interest:
- The index.php moved a lot of the code into a common/startup.php file.
- The url class has returned
- Some of the code was de-featured because it was built off an older version of 1.4.x and is missing things like the language fallback and currency class improvements. This will be added back in when I merge all the latest changes, closer to the RC versions.
This is *ALPHA*
Next will likely be *BETA*
Then probably RC1, RC2, RC3,...RCn
Then 1.5.0 FINAL
When Daniel gets settled into his new home, he may find a clearer head and start coding like a madman
Or he may find some new high-tech gadgets that china just released and be lost in the mix for a bit.. who knows

I would say it's much to early for that type of feedback. That would be more in the RC stages.TAC wrote:Gift Voucher - typo
Or do you not want stuff like that?

yeah these are a bit strange currently, but at this point I was kind of chalking it up to an unfinished interface.spaceman wrote:ADMIN - PRODUCTS - ATTRIBUTE & OPTIONS TABS
Wouldn't the attribute and option fields on the above Product tabs be better as drop-down menus?
Currently you have to start typing in the text box before you get the list.

This was something daniel was trying to use with jqueryUI's new autosuggest feature. Technically it "is" a dropdown but looks like a text box and yes if you don't know the first option it can be confusing.. I think it just looks ugly anyway without formatting. Perhaps he has more fine tuning to add.spaceman wrote:ADMIN - PRODUCTS - ATTRIBUTE & OPTIONS TABS

On topic: I'm loving what I'm seeing in the *ALPHA* release, great job!

a request to add hidden options to the final version if you can
i use readymans mega options modified to include hidden options i use this to parse into the cart/product a variable that i send from flash file, it is quite important as it a unique number that is created when using a custom designer
would it be possiable to extend your current option selection types to include hidden as well... not an expert in any way but readymans fix works a treat for me on 1.4.9.3.
thanks, can't wait to get the code..... updated mods and extensions is gna be the next hurdle...

Never noticed that working before, tho its still not fully functional
While the new default theme is shiny and new and MUCH more cleaned up, I'll be more excited to actually get this running on my own test server to see what neat new things we can do with creating NEW templates (as that is what I deal with mostly). You've given theme creators a large amount of much requested features to work with and I can't wait to get started.
I'll hopefully have a more constructive post to make once the code is released instead of just an "I'M SO EXCITED" post.
Makes sense now, thanks Q for the explanation. Personally, I think I prefer the more basic dropdown in this instance, but that's just my opionion.Qphoria wrote:This was something daniel was trying to use with jqueryUI's new autosuggest feature. Good work otherwise.
I think top-level sub-categories should be listed horizontally - no need for a "Browse" link as the top-level navigation takes you there anyway.
I don't much like the design of the new mega-dropdowns on the Habitat site, but they do get the category > sub-category > sub-sub-category thing right:

I am loving the fact that products are laid out using divs rather than an un-semantic table though - good work.
