Then Im not sure what the issue was that was fixed. The only one I can remember being fixed was the tax being set for guest checkout on the confirm page. What fix do you think it maps to in 1.4.9?

I fixed that! I re-uploaded catalog/controller/checkout folder and now it seems fixed.

That's weird... I fixed it yesterday but now it seems same. It still shows tax :( what else should i upload?

I'm having the same problem. I have a product that is drop shipped from CA and I'm offering free shipping. When I had a guest customer buy from me, he was charged tax. I have "requires shipping" checked no so that shipping wouldnt be required, Free shipping work around.

Any fix for this?

There was only an issue with taxing in guest checkout. The fix is in 1.4.9.2 and 1.4.9.3 and listed here
