I read in another forum that that particular user changed permissions on the ENTIRE SITE to 775

How would this effect security?

Have you uploaded a favicon via the admin panel?
- Sometimes these can become corrupted, and blank out the image manager

No I have not even tried. Still trying to get the important parts working. Product and category images.

Changed the entire sites permissions to 775 and the admin quit working, could not even login. Changed it back to 755.

Still cannot upload images, or list the existing images in the image manager.

Stuff4toys one more thing!
I've got exactly the same problem. I'm using free hosting plan with 000webhost.com there is some issue with sitemap products feed but thats another story. Anyway. I managed to fix that blank pic manager problem by disabling some kind of analityc code from the host. So my problem was definitely from the host side. Here have a look http://members.000webhost.com/analytics.php
I suspect could be something with the host.
Cheers for now and good luck!

I appreciate your reply,

BUT I DON''T USE FREE HOSTING AND WOULD NEVER ASK ONE OF MY CLIENTS TO USE FREE HOSTING, MUCH LESS USE FREE HOSTING FOR ANY OF MY PROJECTS.

Doesn't anyone on this forum have a clue how to fix this?

The blank image manager is a rare bug, but it does appear very occasionally.
As you have seen from searching the forums, there is no quick answer - because there are a number of different solutions.

Did the image manager ever work, or was it blank from day 1? It should contain demo data at minimum - as seen on the opencart demo http://demo.opencart.com/admin

Have you uploaded any images at all - eg, via FTP?

Always been blank from day one. Never allowed any image upload.

I put up a couple of images via ftp and they did not show up.
Demo images are in the folders too, however I did delete all the demo products.

Tried the Image Manager at the demo site and it shows images, so that would prove it's not a local computer/browser issue.

I uploaded and overwrote all files to my server again to prove out any file corruption on upload using Filezilla.

Two things to try:
- if you remove your images, do the demo images appear in the image manager? If no, try the next idea
- If you load a default installation of Opencart onto your server - ie no changes at all - is the image manager still blank?

Just suggestions. From reading this forum, image manager failure seems connected to a) problems with images, or b)problems on the server. Trying this out might narrow down the problem a little.

Did a default install (as you can see I have made no changes) and the images NEVER appeared in Image Manager. After that I tried uploading a few and still no success.

Need to get Daniel to log into this server and figure out what's happening. There is something obviously different between this hostgator installation and all the rest out there.

SUCCESS

New Folder, New Installation, New Database and I see images, upload images, select images and all is well at www.chargerpros.com

Now, before I screw something up, what is the CORRECT procedure for removing the Demo Data? Demo Images?

Thanks to everyone who pitched in and helped with this.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

You can't hear me, but I'm cheering :D

- There is a demo data removal mod on the forum somewhere - but I did it the dim way, disabling all the demo products then deleting them one by one.

Happy Christmas, hope the rest of it goes well!
