The last version of the Fckeditor support Opera 9.5!!!!
I'm getting the DTD HTML problem when using Opera 9.62 + 0.7.9RC3

it seems to happen when it loads funny... like if you stop the page load in the middle of loading and refresh or save and stop it and then resave... I still see it now and again.
removing that line won't really help tho, as it might make it not validate properly. Also there is usually more spill over than just that that gets added... all in all FCKEditor is teh suck
Dunno how it got so popular.. but i guess it was better than htmlarea and whatever else there was at the time.

What's cool about FCKeditor is the direct uploading of images/files and the possibility to browse these files in the folder on the server and then link the files. That's more elegant than dealing with URL's and uploading the relevant files via FTP before or after editing the contents.
Does anybody know of another editor that has this functionality?

I used to use TinyMCE, but the more I use FCKeditor, the more I like it.
I've started using FCKeditor in other projects.
I'd like to continue to run with FCKeditor for now, however this is something I intend on making highly configurable so if you do wish to use TinyMCE it will be fairly straight forward to achieve.
I expect this in v0.8.

I have seen the TinyMCE in several relatively modern CMSes, but none of them included the complete filemanagement-system that the demo-version on their (TinyMCE) website has. Since they also offer the filemanagment-tool for buying on the same pages, I am not sure, whether the latest TinyMCE includes the tool already or whether it is only available as a plugin for the editor, meaning you have to pay for it to get the fully featured functionality. Maybe only the latest version of TinyMCE includes that and the CMSes had older ones implemented or they had that feature disabled, I don't know.
I have not downloaded, installed/implemented and used the newest version, that's why I only know the versions without the cool filemanagement - hence my question.
If you know better, please let us know.

Perhaps you could find an editor that uses an English dictionary?

TinyMCE doesn't have a spell checker at all does it?

To cut the (now) long story short: Did one of you test, whether that filemanager is originally delivered with TinyMCE? That is the relevant question that interests me. All what we did until now is mere speculation. As said, the demo-version of TinyMCE on their site includes that filemanager. If nobody knows for sure, it seems I have to download it for myself, I'm afraid. Whether with or without the dictionary ...
The "MCFileManager" is a commercial add-on for tinyMCE. Like quite a few sites, they offer a demo for you to test it's functionality (the old "try before you buy"). If you want pricing information, that can be found here http://tinymce.moxiecode.com/plugins_filemanager.php.
