Need Colour Options of one product linked to other individual colour products.

Hello,
We have fully integrated our sales system with our opencart ecommerce site.

Our problem is, One type of paint could have 20 options for colours but these are also 20 different products.....so using the options section in opencart and making the different colours won't work. I need to link one product to give me an option for loads of different colours and if they select a different colour, opencart charges for that product.
