Hi folks,

I'm a bit new to this but I'd appreciate some advice.

We've done quite a lot of work on our first Opencart shop and we're thinking about using the same format for a couple of other shops.

Apart from making the appropriate template changes, how do I "copy" the existing shop for other shops, without having to do a fresh install? Guess I need to change what database it looks for, and URL stuff.

Any help appreciated! Thanks

- Copy the full opencart folder from server to server
- From PHPMyAdmin, do a full sql export of your db.
- Import that sql file to your new db
- Edit catalog/config.php & admin/config.php to have the correct user/pass/dbname for the new db

Excellent stuff - so if I do that in the main folder of a different URL, all of the lnks & tabs etc. will be converted? For example, if I copy from www.SiteA.com to www.SiteB.com, all of the internal links will change to www.SiteB.com/etc...?

Not completely familiar with the SQL stages, but maybe it'll be clearer when I try it.

Ah, yes.
the only thing you need to change is the config.php files. There is a section for the domain name as well as the dbstuff. Everything else is using relative or appended paths to the base domain so there's nothing else to worry about.

Superb - Thanks a lot for your help!

I posted another topic about cookies - is there any way to disable the requirement for them as anyone with cookies switched off can't use my site?!

Sorry to hi-jack this thread.

Cookies are required on allot of sites.

and used for allot of reasons...  i do not think you can just TURN them off for open cart.

BTW the cart contents go into the db not your cookie...
