I have posted this in the install forum, but upon reading this should have been fixed in the new release as the line of code supposedly causing has been fixed.

the error is Error: Could not connect to the database please make sure the database server, username and password is correct!

When i've double checked all settings are correct.

so why am I still getting this error

any help pls?

Hi

So if it was a problems with path, username, hostname, password why has it created the flelds in the databse?

1) I've created a new database called open_cart in phpmyadmin
2) made a new username and password with all privillages and assigned it to the open_cart database

Step 3 is

database host: localhost (i'm testing on my own server)
username and password (what i assigned in phpmyadmin)
database name (open_cart)

All fine, creates all the fields in the database

Step 4 enter username and password for the admin panel
enter admin and admin to test

and cannot connect?

can you see anything wrong in what iv'e done?

well this the problem i am having as well, i have also recreated the whole site on a virtual machine (windows), installed php5, made mysql database (mysql5) and made a new user it does not work!

so i desided to reload the files to the web server and use the root username and password, and then it gets to administration, and then stopos me again,

so there is something i am missing?
like everyone else?
i have search this whole forum and found nothing this part is the closest ribbon i have found, so if some one can help then please do. if you do know where there is a ribbon that has the answer then post the URL!

many thanks

greg

I have the same problem at step 3 but after entering the correct information in the config files

define('DB_HOST', 'localhost');
define('DB_USER', '*******');
define('DB_PASSWORD', '*******');
define('DB_NAME', '********');

the site can be run but I can not get to the admin
How can you create an admin user when step 3 fails
