One HUGE thing that is lacking from opencart forum is the "this answer helped" options on http://stackoverflow.com/ etc etc and increasing and decreasing answers...

I have found one mod which may be able to do it for you... it is for phpBB which is obviously what you are running for the forum...

Or maybe we can join the stack exchange community? I've already seen quite a few opencart related questions in various forums over there.
