Hi,
So the shop is really not applicable in the EU. Especially not in Germany.

Or maybe I didnt found the Options!?
There must be a opportunity to compare the "Contents quantity".
Should mean that you always have a possinilti to compare differnt Weights

An Example:

Our Price: 14.75 €
Weight of the Product: 280 grams
Weight of the Contents: 200 ml
Base price for 100 ml Content = 7.38 € <--- this is important

If this is not present, one risks a Court Case in Germany! Now there are still many other things that are making a Court Case .. but somewhere you have to start yes :-)

Why is the base price important? Can't you simply set a price for a product and sell it, no matter what the base price is?
Do you mean you aren't allowed to sell below a certain price?

Would it be very impractical to simply put this in the product description?

Daniel .. i have to make a list with all important things ... i will start in the next days ... for this i must read also some new documents ... in germany this is really a problem ... an example ... the buyers must check the Terms and Conditions .. but also a " Right to withdraw" AND the "privacy" ...

THE GERMANS MUST BE DO 3 CHECKS at the CHECK-OUT ... Germany is GREAT ::)

This practice which the advocats earn a lot of Money is calling "Abmahnung" - if u search at google "Abmahnung & Shop" you will see how big is the problem in germany ....

But the most of this laws are european-laws ... but i think that germany is the once country how make the laws right ... in italy ther is not this problem (now).

@readymen
This special kind of the Prices is only for the buyer.
Means - ONLY with this the Buyer can be sure to GET the BEST Price for the Product.
For the German Law the Buyer MUST see this ASAP

Example:
A Kellogs-Family Package cost 5 Euro (contents 1375gr flakes)
A Kellogs-Single Package cost 7 Euro (contains 1195gr flakes)

The buyer must see the BEST offer ASAP --- because this ist must be there a "price comparison"

Example:
A Kellogs-Family Package cost 5 Euro (contents 1375gr flakes, 100gr=0,36 Eur)
A Kellogs-Single Package cost 7 Euro (contains 1195gr flakes, 100gr= 0,58 Eur)

@ phpuk
If u change the Price (i change 2 times in Week) - u must also change the description ?!?!! And u must make the calulate ... i think its better for the germans, that the Software makes this automatically ...
AND the "price comparison" must be NEAR the Price - The description is not the right place for this !

But u are also right - because its possible, that other things are more important ... i dont know ...

I don't get it.

If I sell
20lbs of beef for $20.00

then I have to also say 1lb per $1.00

Are germans this stupid that they can't do 1st grade math?

let me know what you think is needed to make it compatible,. but as some one else said you can add this sort of stuff in the description.

its not hard to calculate this sort of stuff and put it in the description.

I believe he is referring to stringent online business laws in Germany. :) It is probably not so much about math - the Germans I know are very good at math - it is more about having to disclose everything which isn't built into OpenCart at this time.

normally a trader reverse his prices a few time in a week ... an if u forget to calculate the "price comparison" you (the trader) gets some Post from a shi**y lawer ... i think u should make opencart ready for germany ... for this we must make this "list" ...

OFFTOPIC!

But still is that how it works?
$20 for 20lbs
($1 per 1lb unit)

That has to be told.. which means the german govt thinks their people are too dumb to divide. Why have I not heard about these problems with zencart or other carts Ive tried. Between China and Germany.. they should be banned from the internet for expecting too much from it. [/end rant]

Relax, no need to get irked. It's just a difference in culture. :) It's like belching - it's unacceptable in North America but in other countries, you're paying a compliment to the chef!

Qphoria, this is the reason why ZenCart is not to use for ANY kind of Shop ----
For ZenCart u should use XTC or GAMBIO .... :-)

Please dont tell lies (means: dont tell things they are not true!)!
There is this Problem with ZentCart - but only for GERMANS!
See here: http://www.zen-cart.at/zcvb/forum/showthread.php?t=2775

A German should not use ZenCart if he buy products like Tea, Oil, Cosmetics etc ...
There are 53 Post only for the Problem with the "GrundPreis"!

A shop without this MUST PAY 2000-4000 Euro !!!!!!
http://www.presseanzeiger.de/meldungen/ ... 254182.php

For other Shops - also for ZENCart there are a many Plugins...

Just some "official" news for this:
Dear shopping.com Partner,

the Federal Court of Justice in Germany (BGH) has delivered a judgment on February 26th 2009 on the question how a merchant has to display the base price of goods (prepackaged, open packaged or without packaging) which they offer to consumers based on their weight, volume, length or surface.

The ruling states that in order to fulfill the requirements of Sec. 2 (1) of the German Price Ordinance, a consumer must be able to see both the base price per 100ml or gram (e.g. 2.50€ / 100ml) and the end price (effective price of the product e.g. 5.00€) with one glance. This means that no scrolling must be necessary and it also excludes the possibility of using links.

While this ruling refers to the display of prices within a web shop, it is to be expected that other courts will also apply this judgment to price comparison sites.

......
So we need any modification where it's possible to add the base price and display it in the frontend for german users.
