Hello, we have been trying to implement FB connect but have not been successful.

The functionality works very well in Chrome, Safari and Firefox but does not work on IE6/7/8. Till now we have not been able to find the solution and would definitely appreciate if someone can guide us.

Also for the OC team- Can we make this like a module? FB connect is an excellent feature from FB which many of the OC customers would want to implement

Regards,
Atul

Hello,

I came across this site www.janrain.com and I like what I see here. It has FB connect along with few others (Gmail, Yahoo, msn) to increase user sign up. In the coming days, we will be using this on our site. Have not tried it yet though.
If anyone is able to successfully implement it, please share.

Regards,

OK so the new user clicks on "Create an account with facebook connect", enters his credentials, then comes a form to enter his address (cause opencart won't have a user without a main address), then we're done.

What we have gained is : no first name fill, no last name fill. Is that correct? Other benefits? ??? Just trying to understand. ;D

To add the comment box is pretty straight forward. Just get the code from developers website on FB and you are ready to go.

To answer the other question on what we gain from pulling info from FB- You can pull out data like gender, profile image and few more with free version of Janrain. Moreover lazy people in this world just have to click on their mouse and not enter anything to register to the site.

OK I got this http://cart.jeuxtuencadres.fr/index.php ... ount/login ;D

Can't retrieve the postal address and phone number though. Not listed in the facebook documentation so it might not be possible.

You dont think you should make the mod work properly before charging (that much) for it?
The only thing this does is to enter name and email in the form! You still need to register an account! And then the point's gone imo...

Well the registration screen you're talking about is not directly for the account creation (see you had no password to enter?), it is to get your postal address. At some point you HAVE to enter your address, don't you? BTW to answer my own post from friday I checked again and there is no way to pull the address from your facebook account (provided you entered it - which I personally didn't and wouldn't BTW).

I asked 2 weeks ago something like "what do you want it to do besides pulling the names and email?" and I got no answer. Please elaborate what you expected and I'll be more than happy to update the mod, I admit I may be missing some points, I have no problems with that, but then again nobody answered me. :-[
